What we offer
Small Class Sizes: Winston's average student to teacher ratio is 8:1, meaning our students receive an education that includes close monitoring of progress and frequent, meaningful interaction with classmates and teachers.
Personalized Education: Winston's faculty teaches to each student's strengths and provides assistance in their areas of needs. Every student gets the learning plan that works best for them.
Assistive Technology: Winston faculty seamlessly integrates technology — such as our school-provided Chromebooks and software like Read&Write — into the classroom to help level the playing field for our students.
Tailored Programs: Winston employs the use of SIM (link), Orton-Gillingham-based reading programs; and multi-sensory education methods ensure students connect with the material they are taught.
The Winston School San Antonio is a school for children with average or above intelligence who are diagnosed with learning disorders, learning “differences” (those not doing well academically in other settings but who “slip through the cracks” of the TEA guidelines for statistical learning disabilities), and/or Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder.
Winston's curriculum is based on the principles of: individualized, small group instruction; multi-sensory learning to encompass a variety of learning styles; the promotion of self-esteem and a positive learning environment; the teaching of self-advocacy skills; and the optimal attainment of educational or career goals. However, within this focus, the curriculum emphasis in Lower (K-6), Middle (7-8), and Upper School (9-12) is each somewhat different. We invite you to learn more about the Winston difference.
